Really?

"It will all be worth it."

While this sentiment seems harmless and a sage piece of advice, it's actually quite annoying and frustrating. Leave it out.

How do I know (or any other first time pregnant woman know) that it will be all worth it? We can IMAGINE that it will all be worth it. We can read about how it will be worth it, we can talk to other women and men, both moms and dads, can tell you that it's of course "all worth it", but I have YET to ever feel that way once. I will never know, nor could I know, that it will all be worth it yet now could I? No, I didn't think so.

So while I'm swollen out of all of my clothes and shoes, have put on more weight than I thought possible, and can barely walk these days, please don't tell me that it's worth it because I can't possible know that yet and did it occur to you that I am MISERABLE? Okay, thank you!

Welcome

Welcome to "What Not to Say to a Pregnant Woman".

I have started this blog in order to speak to those of us who, gasp, actually did not/do not enjoy being pregnant! And after almost 9 months (I'm due in less than 2 weeks) of this pregnancy and having to hear all kinds of comments and pieces of advice from friends, family and strangers alike, I thought it was long overdue to share my experience.

So read on if you've ever been pregnant, are pregnant, or want to know more about what NOT to say to a pregnant woman (guys pay attention too), and what to say instead!
